Renault SA and Nissan Motor Co. has so far announced plans to manufacture electric car batteries in Japan, the United States, Portugal and England. CEO Carlos Ghosn now says that the alliance is considering a facility in France as well. At a management forum in Tokyo, Ghosn said that it is looking at France as a place where it will “build some batteries.” The Franco-Japanese alliance aims to take leadership in the zero-emission electric vehicle field with a global rollout of battery-run cars by 2012.
